Customer Service Complaint

Recently, it seems Darin and I have had a spate of customer service issues. Verizon dropped Darin's telephone number of twelve years after he tried to add me to their family plan. The compensation for the trouble? A late charge on our bill. AOL kept me on hold for 1 hour and 10 minutes just trying to cancel the freaking service. They offered to cut my monthly bill by 70% instead of leaving. Why wouldn't they offer that rate in the first place? Crazy. Charter Cable had me on the phone a few weeks ago literally crying (sobbing indeed) for help with my cable modem. Probably pregancy hormones, but a pain nonetheless. I found a video from an article in the New York Times that seems to sum it up. What ever happened to customer service?
